Treatment for cataracts?

Surgery is the only effective treatment for cataracts Cataracts are a common and frequent eye disease that initially have little effect on the patient’s vision, but as the clouding of the lens increases, the patient’s vision gradually decreases and can eventually lead to blindness. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide and account for at least half of the blind in most Asian and African countries. Cataracts are also the leading cause of blindness in China. As life expectancy increases, the number of cataract patients continues to increase. Medication is not effective and surgery is the only effective treatment.

“Currently, “cataract intracapsular extraction” and “large incision cataract extracapsular extraction” have become history. “Small incision cataract extraction and cataract ultrasound emulsification have become widely used in clinical practice.

Cataract ultrasound emulsification surgery can be performed through an incision of about 2-3 mm, and the nucleus and cortex of the lens can be extracted through the use of an ultrasound emulsifier. The advantages of cataract ultrasound emulsification are: small incision, fast healing, no suture, small corneal astigmatism, and satisfactory vision at an early stage.
