Esophageal cancer can metastasize to the abdominal cavity.
The most important metastatic way and pathway of esophageal cancer is lymphatic metastasis, usually to cervical and supraclavicular lymph nodes, but also to paratracheo-esophageal or abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal lymph nodes.
Esophageal cancer is a common malignant tumor of upper gastrointestinal tract, which is mainly caused by genetic factors, bad dietary habits or environmental factors. It usually manifests as difficulty in swallowing, dehydration or weakness.
The disease is mainly treated by surgery, supplemented by radiation therapy and chemotherapy. All of the above treatments can only control the development of the disease for patients with advanced esophageal cancer, but cannot cure it completely. Esophageal cancer deteriorates rapidly and is prone to metastasis, which usually occurs through the esophagus and neighboring tissues or organs, lymphatic or blood circulation.
