Is pathocentesis accurate?

Pathocentesis, or tissue aspiration pathology biopsy, has a high accuracy rate, usually above 80%. Tissue puncture biopsy is often used in medicine, a test method to obtain histopathological diagnosis, is to use a puncture needle to extract part of the patient’s diseased tissue, through laboratory examination, analysis to determine the cause of the disease, the nature of the disease, and so on, so as to guide the development of a treatment plan, because the pathology is the gold standard for diagnosis of tumors, so the puncture biopsy is an important means of confirming the diagnosis of malignant tumors. The advantages of tissue puncture pathology biopsy are: less damage to tissues, high safety, less chance of infection, early diagnosis, and conducive to treatment and rehabilitation. The disadvantages are that the amount of material taken is small, and it is difficult to accurately take out the diseased tissues if the material is not taken properly or not punctured into the lesion area, thus leading to misdiagnosis. Generally the lesion area is larger, more pathological tissues obtained from puncture, the accuracy is higher. If the lesion area is special, the volume is small, the extraction amount is too small, the accuracy will be affected, then it is necessary to puncture again to take the tissues for review, or with the results of CT, B ultrasound and tumor markers, etc., to conduct a comprehensive analysis, don’t be negligent, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
