What is a nasal cyst

Nasal cysts refer to benign masses that occur in the nose. Cysts have a relatively intact envelope that contains a portion of yellowish fluid called cystic fluid and are usually seen in nasal vestibular cysts and sinus cysts. Cysts are usually detected during nasal examination or sinus CT scan, and if they are large, surgical removal of the cyst to promote healing may be considered. Nasal cysts can be divided into three categories according to their anatomical location, as follows: 1) facial cleft cysts originating from the fusion of various craniofacial prominences during the embryonic period, the more common ones being nasal vestibular cysts; 2) odontogenic cysts occurring in the maxilla, including periodontal cysts and tooth-containing cysts; 3) cysts occurring in the sinuses, the common ones being mucocutaneous cysts and mucous cysts. Whether detected by specialist checkup or nasal CT examination, it is important to visit the hospital to review the imaging report and see if further treatment, such as surgery, is needed.
