At present, pneumonectomy is still the preferred treatment for non-small cell lung cancer. When the tumor is close to the bronchial opening or invades the bronchial opening or main bronchus, lobectomy alone cannot completely remove the tumor, while total lung resection severely damages lung function and most patients cannot tolerate it.
