New coronavirus pneumonia treatment protocol

Currently for novel coronavirus pneumonia, the National Health Commission and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have published the fourth edition of the treatment protocol. In general, patients are diagnosed by pathogenic examination, i.e., respiratory specimens, real-time fluorescent RT-PCR testing of blood specimens, or viral gene sequencing, one of which is sufficient to confirm the diagnosis. As there is no clear specific drug for the disease, suspected and confirmed patients need to be isolated and closely monitored for blood count, urine count, oxygen saturation and other indicators, while antiviral therapy, such as nebulized inhalation with alpha-interferon, can be administered.
