Low hemoglobin may be caused by physiological reasons or by pathological reasons such as aplastic anemia and leukemia.
1. Physiological reasons
Low hemoglobin may occur in the middle and late stages of pregnancy due to the increase in blood volume, which results in the dilution of blood. It may also be due to the fact that more blood flows out of women during menstruation, resulting in lower hemoglobin.
2. Pathological causes
(1) Aplastic anemia: It is a bone marrow hematopoietic failure disorder that may be caused by different etiologies and mechanisms. It may be caused by viral infection, chemical drugs, heredity and so on. Patients may have low hemoglobin due to abnormal hematopoietic function.
(2) Leukemia: a malignant clonal disease of hematopoietic stem progenitor cells, the cause of which is still unclear and may be related to viral infection, abnormal immune function, heredity, and other reasons. Due to the excessive proliferation of abnormal white blood cells (i.e. leukemia cells), the normal hematopoietic function is inhibited, and thus patients may also have low hemoglobin.
There are many other reasons for low hemoglobin, it is recommended that patients with low hemoglobin go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
