Many parents bring their children to the clinic, often because the child’s academic performance fell, when the child’s ADHD is treated, but also always will be the good or bad academic performance as the evaluation of drug efficacy standards, if the child’s academic performance did not improve, it will be considered that the treatment is not effective, this evaluation is not objective and inaccurate, we believe that should be evaluated from the following aspects of the treatment. (1) the improvement of the main symptoms: such as the child’s behavior can be controlled, concentrate in class, do their homework seriously, without adults to urge, less tantrums, and the relationship with classmates have become harmonious, motivated. (2) Parent and teacher evaluation: Parents mainly observe the child’s life and learning outside the school, which has certain limitations, while teachers can observe more of the child’s learning in school, including classroom discipline, listening to lectures, classmate relations, etc., and can see the child’s changes, and the gap between the classmates, the teacher’s evaluation tends to be more objective, and also more accurate. Parents should contact the school teacher regularly to understand the changes in the child’s medication, and feedback the results to the doctor in a timely manner, which is conducive to the evaluation of the efficacy of the child’s treatment and the adjustment of therapeutic drugs. (3) Regularly go to the hospital for review: to know the changes of objective examination indexes, such as attention test, behavioral scale, etc., in order to compare before and after the treatment, observe the efficacy, adjust the treatment and judge the prognosis, the examination indexes are all observable, which is an important part of judging the efficacy of the treatment. Parents should pay attention to this and go to the hospital for regular checkups.
