Pulmonary CT manifestations of a novel coronary pneumonia

In patients with novel coronary pneumonia, early lung CT shows multiple small patchy shadows and interstitial changes, which are evident in the outer lung bands. This can progress to multiple ground glass and infiltrative shadows in both lungs, and in severe cases, solid lung changes, with pleural effusions being rare. For undiagnosed cases, the diagnosis cannot be confirmed based on lung CT alone, but requires the following pathogenic evidence: 1) positive real-time fluorescence RT-PCR of respiratory specimens or blood specimens for novel coronavirus nucleic acid; 2) viral gene sequencing of respiratory specimens or blood specimens with high homology to known novel coronaviruses.
