What to do if your one-week-old baby’s gums are bleeding

If a one-year-old baby’s gums are knocked out and bleeding, an oral examination should be performed and x-rays taken. If the X-ray shows intact teeth and widened periodontal membrane gap, producing periodontal shock, iodophor needs to be applied to the broken gum surface for disinfection, pay attention to avoid gnawing with the affected teeth, and the teeth can return to normal after 1-2 months of observation. If the tooth is partially defective and the friction of the mucosa causes redness, swelling and bleeding, the edge can be sharpened with diamond lancet and polished. If the X-ray shows that the tooth is fractured and the pulp is exposed, the pulp can be removed directly under local anesthesia and the root canal can be filled after rinsing and disinfection. If the x-ray shows that the root fracture site is close to the middle 1/3 of the root or less, it is necessary to extract the milk tooth directly under local anesthesia.
