Bletilla should be Baihe. “Stomach disease” belongs to the category of stomach pain, plumpness (stomach distension and discomfort) in traditional Chinese medicine. Bai He can be used for bleeding in the stomach; Hovenia Citriodora can be used for stomach and epigastric plumpness and distension, etc. It is recommended that patients follow the doctor’s instructions to identify the symptoms and use the medication.
Bai He has the effect of astringency and stopping bleeding (using drugs with astringent effect to treat bleeding diseases), subduing swelling and regenerating muscles, and it is suitable for internal and external bleeding diseases, because it mainly enters the lung and stomach meridians, so it is especially suitable for lung and stomach hemorrhage (non-physiological bleeding diseases). It can also be used for carbuncle sores, cracked hands and feet, and water and fire burns.
Citrus aurantium has the effect of breaking down qi and eliminating stagnation, resolving phlegm and dispersing lumps, which is suitable for gastrointestinal stagnation, damp-heat dysentery, chest tightness and discomfort, and chest and hypochondriac (chest and ribcage) pain.
The adverse effects of Bai He and Citrus aurantium are not known. Bai He should not be used in conjunction with Cao Wu, Radix Polygoni Multiflori, Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori, Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori and Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori. Pregnant women and those with weak spleen and stomach should be cautious of using Hovenia vulgaris.
