Normal liver function and alpha-fetoprotein do not completely indicate a normal liver. 1. In the early stage of some insidious liver diseases, liver function and alpha-fetoprotein are normal, but the liver cells have already changed, and the abnormalities can be found through pathological biopsy or imaging examination. 2. In simple fatty liver disease, liver function and alpha-fetoprotein are basically normal in the early stage of the disease, but liver puncture biopsy, microscopic fatty degeneration of hepatocytes can be found, and imaging ultrasonography suggests that the liver volume has increased and the density of the liver has decreased, etc. If there is malaise or anorexia, the liver function and alpha-fetoprotein are normal. If symptoms such as fatigue, anorexia, fever, etc. occur, liver disease should be alerted, and it is recommended to seek early and complete the examination, combined with the patient’s clinical symptoms and the indicators of the examination for a comprehensive diagnosis.
