About how long does it take to recover from acupuncture treatment for facial palsy?

There are many patients who ask this question. In fact, the answer varies from person to person, and the results will vary widely for each person with different severity of illness and physical condition. However, in general young people recover more easily than older people; people who are well rested recover more quickly than those who work hard and are busy and do not take care of their recuperation; people who do not have other serious illnesses recover more easily than those who do; and people whose onset is accompanied by persistent severe headache and ear pain or herpes in the ear have a harder time recovering. Early acupuncture treatment is necessary; it is not necessary to wait until some time after the onset of the disease, but the doctor’s acupuncture technique is crucial, and the priority of the technique has a greater impact on the patient’s prognosis. Finally, younger people with mild onset and good rest may recover in one to two weeks, while weaker, more ill people may take three months or longer to recover completely, and treatment should be adhered to to the end so as not to leave sequelae that could instead bring more head and facial discomfort.
