What to do if your blood sugar is above 10

Blood glucose above 10mmol/L needs to be paid attention to, as soon as possible hospital consultation. First of all, the diagnostic standard of diabetes is fasting blood sugar greater than 7mmol/L and two hours after meal blood sugar greater than 11.1mmol/L. Therefore, if the blood sugar of normal people is above 10mmol/L, we need to identify whether it is pre-meal blood sugar or two hours after meal blood sugar, if it is pre-meal blood sugar, that is, fasting blood sugar, then it has reached the diagnostic standard of diabetes, and we need to consult the regular hospital as soon as possible. If it is preprandial blood glucose, i.e. fasting blood glucose, it means that the diagnosis of diabetes has been reached. If the postprandial blood glucose is more than 10mmol/L, especially the blood glucose two hours after meal is more than 10mmol/L, it may be abnormal glucose tolerance, which is the blood glucose between normal people and diabetic patients, and it is necessary to pay attention to the control of diet and exercise to delay the time of developing diabetes. In addition, if a diabetic’s blood glucose is above 10mmol/L fasting, it means that the blood glucose control is not satisfactory, so it is necessary to find out the cause of high blood glucose as soon as possible and adjust the diet, exercise or glucose-lowering treatment plan under the guidance of the doctor. If the postprandial blood glucose is above 10mmol/L, for young patients, it is necessary to further control blood glucose, while for elderly patients, especially if they are older than 80 years old, it is considered that the control has reached the standard, and there is no need to be overly nervous. Therefore, the treatment of blood sugar above 10mmol/L is different in different cases, but the best way is to consult a specialist as soon as possible.
