Endocrine therapy is an important part of prostate cancer treatment. Although the side effects of the treatment are less than those of chemotherapy, long-term medication can still cause physical and psychological damage to patients. Here are a few lifestyle suggestions summarized for patients’ reference. Hot flashes – Avoid stimulating foods (hot pot or spicy foods), soy products may help relieve hot flashes. Yew Decreased physical strength – Ensure 30 minutes of moderate activity 5 days a week. Osteoporosis – Quit smoking, drink less alcohol, take appropriate amounts of calcium (600-1200mg) and vitamin D (400-800IU) daily, and have your bone density checked annually. Cardiovascular disease – need to check for cardiovascular disease before treatment, increase fruit and vegetables, reduce salt and saturated fat intake, and check weight and blood pressure regularly. Diabetes and other metabolic diseases – regular check of blood sugar and blood lipids, prevention of “three highs (high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high blood lipids)” through diet, activity and lifestyle habits. Kidney insufficiency – Check kidney function regularly and watch urine output. The above suggestions can help alleviate minor side effects, but for side effects that are difficult to control, it is better to come to the clinic for further examination and treatment.
