Does 8 times of chemotherapy indicate a serious disease?

The number of chemotherapy alone does not indicate the severity of the disease. Chemotherapy is a common form of systemic treatment that can be used for post-operative adjuvant treatment of tumors, or for pre-operative neoadjuvant chemotherapy to shrink tumors and reduce staging before surgery. For patients with advanced tumors, palliative chemotherapy can also be done. Generally, chemotherapy requires 6-8 courses, and 8 times of chemotherapy indicates that the tumor lesion may be late staged and large. For example, breast tumor patients have supraclavicular lymph node metastasis and more number of axillary lymph node metastasis when found, in this case, they may also do preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy for 8 times. If the tumor can be shrunk and the stage can be reduced, there is still a chance of re-surgical treatment later. Therefore, 8 times of chemotherapy may indirectly indicate advanced disease, that is, more serious, but whether it is serious or not depends on the results of imaging and pathology.
