I’ve had hiccups for ten days.

Hiccups for ten days now, due to the prolonged period of time, may consider diaphragmatic spasm, stomach spasm, and also do not rule out central nervous system disease.
1. Diaphragmatic spasm: the diaphragm is located above the stomach, and if the diaphragm spasms, it can cause the symptoms of hiccups. The causes of diaphragmatic spasm include:
(1) Vagus nerve, phrenic nerve due to stimulation: such as thyroid tumors and other compression of the nerve, causing nerve dysfunction, which may cause diaphragmatic spasm, thus causing hiccups.
(2) Chest mediastinal diseases: such as lower lobe pneumonia, lung abscess, pleurisy and other diseases, may also cause diaphragmatic spasm, which may cause hiccups.
(2) Stomach spasm: due to the effect of drugs, dietary habits, gastrointestinal diseases, psychological stress and other adverse factors stimulation, may cause stomach spasm, which can cause hiccups.
3. Central diseases: such as brain abscess, brain injury, meningitis and other diseases lead to increased intracranial pressure, compression of the central nervous system, thus causing increased nerve excitability, may also appear hiccups.
In addition to the above reasons, eating too fast, overfilling or inhaling cold air can cause the above symptoms, but they usually last for a shorter period of time. If the hiccups are prolonged, the first step is to rule out the presence of organic lesions.
If the above symptoms are not relieved, or accompanied by other symptoms, you should go to the hospital in a timely manner to identify the cause and give targeted treatment.
