Yellow sputum is a pathological manifestation that often indicates inflammation when the sputum is yellow in colour. There are many diseases that present with yellow sputum, such as pneumonia (e.g. bacterial pneumonia, Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia), bronchitis, exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and sinusitis are common.
