Introduction to TV thoracoscopic surgery

We have done many of these procedures, but there are still many patients who are unaware of this method. I will present the information I found from the Internet below in the hope that the majority of patients will know about this method. Since hand sweating is the result of excessive hyperactivity of the thoracic sympathetic nerve, which controls hand sweating, cutting off the thoracic sympathetic nerve under a televised thoracoscope can reduce the hyperactivity of the nerve and thus reduce the symptoms of hand sweating. By making a small incision of about 1cm in each side of the patient’s armpit, the thoracic sympathetic nerve, which causes hand sweating, can be cut off accurately and quickly in only 30 minutes under the precise guidance of the thoracoscope and using the TV monitoring system, thus completely removing the root cause of hand sweating. The surgical advantages of TV thoracoscopic thoracic sympathetic neurotomy are immediate, painless and almost no bleeding during the operation, small incisions and hidden sites in the bilateral armpits, fast recovery after the operation, only 2-3 days to recover from the hospital, long-lasting effect and very low recurrence rate. In contrast, traditional chest surgery requires an incision of about 30cm in the chest wall, cutting off two layers of muscles in the chest wall, and sometimes a rib needs to be removed or cut off, which results in obvious post-operative pain and can only be discharged in about 10-20 days, and leaves a 30cm surgical scar. IV. Surgical risks Any surgery has certain risks. The possible complications of TV thoracoscopic thoracic sympathectomy are: 1. compensatory sweating, which is manifested as periodic sweating in the abdomen and back, but this sweating is tolerated by most patients. 2. Horner’s syndrome, which manifests as mild ptosis of the affected eyelid and pupillary constriction (without affecting vision), with an incidence of no more than 1% reported in the literature. In general, televised thoracoscopic thoracic sympathectomy is currently the most effective and safest surgical procedure for the treatment of hand sweating.
