Folic acid tablets are similar to folic acid capsules in that they should be taken orally before and during pregnancy. Folic acid can prevent neurological or vascular malformations in the developing fetus. Folic acid capsules are a combination of folic acid and other vitamins. Folic acid capsules are not as easy to digest as folic acid tablets and are not suitable for consumption during pregnancy, as the capsules may be harmful to the fetus after decomposition. Pregnant women need only simple supplementation of folic acid in early pregnancy and it is not recommended to consume folic acid capsules. In some areas, pregnant women can receive free folic acid tablets at local hospitals, and pregnant women must consume folic acid tablets in moderation in early pregnancy.
