Swollen feet in the ninth month of pregnancy are mainly seen in the following cases: a. physiological lower limb edema, due to long time standing and walking, which can improve after rest and does not require special treatment. Second, pathological lower limb edema: caused by gestational hypertension, pregnancy combined with nephritis and other medical diseases, which need to be treated for the cause. In cases of high edema of the lower extremities, intravenous albumin can be given followed by diuretics to reduce edema; in cases of hypertension in pregnancy with significantly higher blood pressure, cesarean section is required to terminate the pregnancy to reduce edema. Clinical upper and lower extremity edema can also be seen in other diseases. Generally, the clinical manifestations of lower extremity edema caused by gestational hypertension are as follows: 1. pay attention to the presence of headache, vision changes, epigastric discomfort, etc.; 2. measure blood pressure, at least two measurements of systolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 140 mmHg in the same arm, and/or diastolic blood pressure greater than or equal to 90 mmHg, defined as hypertension; 3. urine protein, liver and kidney function measurements. Gestational hypertension mostly occurs after 20 weeks of gestation, with clinical manifestations of hypertension, proteinuria, edema, hypoproteinemia, etc., and in severe cases, convulsions, coma, and even death of mother and child. To date, it is still one of the important causes of maternal and perinatal mortality.
