Cranial repair is a surgical procedure for patients with cranial defects caused by cranial trauma and diseases. The role of the surgery is mainly to repair the defective part of the skull and rebuild the protective shell of the soft tissue of the brain. At present, with the rapid development of economy, more and more people are suffering from cranial defects due to traffic accidents, falling objects, various intracranial diseases, etc., which makes cranial repair a common surgery. Currently, most hospitals are using titanium mesh material for cranial repair, which has certain disadvantages, such as poor compatibility, high infection, and can be thermally conductive, relatively impervious to X-ray and foreign body reaction. At present, our team has adopted the new PEEK material for skull repair, which is light and free of foreign body sensation, and has no concern for stress collapse. In addition, CT/MRI tracking is easy, and there is no artifact interference with brain pacemakers, magnetic stimulation, or electrical stimulation. Cranial repair has become a relatively routine surgery in the medical field, and the risk of surgery is relatively small, but there are a few patients who are worried or have questions about the impact of cranial repair on their life expectancy. Cranial repair surgery is not very difficult and will not move the soft tissues inside the skull, no post-operative complications such as infection, after cranial repair, it is possible to resume normal life and does not affect life expectancy.
