How to treat eye flashes

Flashes of light in the eye are usually seen in diseases of the fundus of the eye, such as retinal traction, or even retinal fissures or retinal detachment. Repeated pulling of the retina may cause retinal fissures, which can be closed with retinal laser photocoagulation. If further retinal detachment is caused, the correct surgical approach should be chosen depending on the duration and extent of the detachment. If the detachment is more extensive and prolonged, or if the macula is involved, an internal surgery, or vitrectomy, should be performed in this case. In this case, an endovascular surgery, or vitrectomy, is performed to remove the vitreous humor and reposition the detached retina so that vision is not affected and the flashing sensation in front of the eyes can gradually disappear. Simple retinal traction may be relieved with complete posterior detachment of the vitreous, however, because of the serious consequences of retinal detachment, it is important to go to the hospital for an early fundus examination when such symptoms occur.
