How long does it take for viral herpes facial paralysis to heal

How long it takes to recover from facial paralysis caused by viral herpes, generally referred to as facial paralysis caused by herpes zoster, is usually related to the treatment measures taken. Facial paralysis caused by herpes zoster is mainly caused by varicella zoster virus invading the facial nerve, resulting in paralysis of the facial nerve, which may lead to crooked corners of the mouth, salivation, and leakage of wind in speech. Facial paralysis caused by herpes zoster is usually self-limiting, and if no treatment is taken at the later stage, 70% of the patients may take about 6 months to recover; if active treatment is taken, including adequate course and amount of antiviral drugs and symptomatic treatment such as nerve nourishment, and acupuncture and physiotherapy at the later stage, most of the patients can get better 2-4 weeks after the onset of the disease, and fully recover after 3-4 months. Most patients can recover 2-4 weeks after the onset of the disease and 3-4 months later. If there are signs of facial paralysis, it is recommended that patients follow the doctor’s instructions for adequate antiviral medication at an early stage, and if necessary, glucocorticoid medication is given, which is also helpful in suppressing further aggravation of facial paralysis.
