How long does it take from early to late stage of lung cancer

The survival time of lung cancer is related to the malignancy degree, stage of tumor, patient’s own condition and treatment, etc., which cannot be generalized. If the malignancy of early stage lung cancer is higher, such as small cell lung cancer, its growth rate is faster and the cell multiplication time is relatively short, and it is easy to metastasize, so the effect of surgery is usually poor, and the development time from early stage to advanced stage is relatively short, which may only take six months to a year. If the malignancy of early stage lung cancer is lower, such as squamous lung cancer, the lump grows more slowly and is less prone to metastasis, and the time to progress from early stage to advanced stage is longer, which may take 2-3 years or more, but the exact time varies from person to person. Since early lung cancer symptoms are not obvious and not easy to be detected, most lung cancer patients are already in advanced stage when they are discovered. Therefore, patients are recommended to have regular health checkups in hospitals to achieve early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment.
