What to do about laryngeal cysts

Laryngeal cysts are not easily detected when they are small and do not have clinical symptoms such as dyspnea, uneven breath, sore throat or foreign body sensation in the pharynx, and surgical treatment is required when dyspnea and dysphagia occur. There are various types of laryngeal cysts, such as intralaryngeal type which manifests as foreign body sensation in the pharynx, and severe dyspnea requires surgical treatment, which can be performed through indirect laryngoscopy, direct laryngoscopy, and microscopic removal of cysts. The extralaryngeal type requires strict distinction between gill slit cyst and thyroglossal cyst and surgical excision through external cervical approach; the mixed type requires simultaneous surgery from inside and outside the larynx. Once the symptoms of laryngeal cysts appear, it is necessary to seek medical attention promptly otherwise there may be adverse reactions or even life-threatening effects.
