Low-density lipoprotein normal value range

The normal range for LDL is <3.12 mmol/L. LDL is primarily used to reflect the cholesterol content of lipoproteins. LDL transports cholesterol from the blood to various tissues throughout the body, while cholesterol in HDL is what leads cholesterol from various parts of the body back to the liver for metabolism. Therefore, an increase in LDL is equivalent to an increase in blood cholesterol levels, which is detrimental to the patient. Therefore, when a significant increase in LDL is found on physical examination, it should be promptly controlled and treated.
