General knowledge of hearing protection

  Avoid exposure to loud sounds
We listen to different sizes of sound every day, and once it exceeds 85dB SPL it can be harmful to our ears.
You may not know that the sound from places like traffic noise, discos, Karaoke rooms, amusement halls, etc. has exceeded 85dB SPL, so you must pay attention to the following issues.
  1. Reduce the volume
When listening to music, watching TV, listening to the radio or Mp3 at home need to reduce the volume, and do not listen for a long time.
Do not let a variety of noise sources together.
Try to buy electrical equipment with low noise.
  2.Stay away from loud signals
Stay away from noisy places as far as possible, such as discos, Karaoke rooms, etc. Even if you go, you must leave the high-noise place every once in a while to relieve the pressure on your ears.
Please walk away when the surrounding sound is too loud.
3.If the working environment is very noisy, you need to do a good job of anti-noise measures
Use anti-noise equipment, such as anti-noise earplugs, whenever possible. Once you find ear discomfort, you must seek medical attention immediately.
If loud sounds suddenly appear, cover your ears quickly.
  Avoid physical injury
  1. Do not pull out your ears indiscriminately, eliminate the use of sharp tools, and do not probe too deep.
  2. If you get water in your ears after swimming, you need to dry them with cotton swabs in time to prevent ear infections.
  3. When blowing your nose, pay attention to the method. Only press your finger on one side of your nose and then blow the other side. Do not pinch both sides of the nose at the same time and exhale hard because the back of the nasal cavity is connected to the middle ear cavity through the eustachian tube and improper nasal blowing can drive nasal secretions into the middle ear cavity and cause otitis media.
  4. Avoid external injuries to the head or ear.
  Preventive care
  1. Prevent and treat systemic diseases that affect hearing, such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, nephritis, liver cirrhosis, etc. In addition, it is important to maintain emotional stability and open-mindedness. Regularly do some hearing self-care massage such as sounding the sky drum and playing the auricle. For the elderly, it is recommended to do regular hearing examinations, once the hearing problem is found early intervention treatment.
  2. Do not abuse antibiotics, some drugs are harmful to the ears. The most common ototoxic drugs are streptomycin, gentamicin, kanamycin, etc. Children, the elderly and people who are sensitive to ototoxic drugs or have a family history of poisoning should avoid using them as much as possible. It is recommended to be used under the guidance of a professional doctor.
