Right-sided chest pain is not an early manifestation of lung cancer. Early stage of lung cancer mainly manifests as irritating cough or blood in sputum, and as the disease progresses, symptoms such as chest pain, chest tightness, breathlessness and fever may appear. Most of the chest pains caused by lung cancer are caused by tumor invasion of pleura and chest wall, and metastasis to chest wall and ribs, which is often a manifestation of late stage of lung cancer. The more common causes of right-sided chest pain may be chest wall injury, chronic strain injury, including soft tissue injury of chest wall, rib injury, pleurisy, pneumonia, intercostal neuritis, and costochondritis. Some diseases of the upper abdomen, such as subdiaphragmatic abscess or cholecystitis, can also cause right-sided chest pain.
