Is it normal for a girl to have a throat knot?

The majority of girls with throat knots are normal, while a few girls with visible throat knots can be caused by endocrine disorders. Under normal circumstances, both men and women will have a laryngeal node. The laryngeal knot is just a bony sign, more prominent in men, while in women it is usually hidden in the neck muscles and does not protrude significantly. If a woman has a particularly pronounced laryngeal node, it is most often the result of weight loss. After weight loss, women’s bodies are extremely thin and the fat and muscle tissue in the front of the neck is not developed, so the laryngeal nodes will protrude significantly forward. In addition, some women’s prominent laryngeal nodes can also be seen as a result of endocrine disorders. The female body is dominated by estrogen, and if there are lesions in the endocrine system, such as ovarian hypofunction, pituitary tumors, and increased androgens in the body, it can cause protruding laryngeal nodes and voice changes. In addition, protruding laryngeal nodes in women can also be caused by genetic factors. If the laryngeal nodes of parents are more prominent, the laryngeal nodes of the next generation of children will be more obvious. Therefore, it is usually normal for women to have laryngeal nodes, but if they have abnormal protruding laryngeal nodes combined with other symptoms such as voice change, it is recommended to visit the ENT department in a timely manner to clarify the specific cause.
