Is pediatric nephrotic syndrome serious?

Pediatric nephrotic syndrome is a relatively serious disease. The main manifestation of the child is edema, which can be mild or severe, mostly eyelid edema in the early stage, and then bilateral lower limb edema, which can cause thoracic fluid and ascites as the condition worsens. If there is more chest fluid and a large amount of ascites causing obvious abdominal distension, it can cause symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, chest tightness and breath-holding in children. So the child feels very uncomfortable and the symptoms are relatively serious. Boys can show obvious edema of the scrotum and even dare not walk. These are the symptoms that can be seen, but there are also more complications of nephrotic syndrome, mainly the following complications: 1, infection, because nephrotic syndrome is the loss of protein from the urine, can also lose part of the immunoglobulin, so the child’s immune function is low, can cause abdominal infection, urinary tract infection and respiratory tract infection; 2, embolism symptoms, because the blood is hypercoagulable state, can cause kidney embolism, brain embolism. Once it causes cerebral embolism, it can cause physical movement disorder and even hemiplegia. If it causes renal embolism, when both kidneys are embolized, it can cause acute renal failure; 3. Acute renal failure, if acute renal failure occurs, the child has very little urine, which can cause hyperkalemia, which is more serious and may cause cardiac arrhythmia and pose a threat to life. So pediatric nephrotic syndrome is a relatively serious disease.
