HPV16 Positive TCT Normal What’s going on?

HPV16 positivity and a normal TCT test indicate that the virus is now an infected person and a carrier, and has not caused cervical cytologic changes.HPV viruses are human papillomaviruses that are classified as high-risk, intermediate-risk, and low-risk, and there are about 40 subtypes associated with reproductive tract infections, of which about 13-15 are closely associated with the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer. Nearly 90% of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and 99% of cervical cancer tissues are found to have high-risk HPV infections, 70% of which are associated with HPV 16 and HPV 18 subtypes, meaning that it is the 16 and 18 types that are closely associated with the development of cervical cancer. According to the standardized management of cervical cancer screening, HPV 16 and 18 positivity, regardless of whether the TCT is problematic or not, requires a cervical biopsy to determine the next step in the program. If the cervical biopsy is not problematic, the patient can be observed for three months or treated with HPV clearance. If the cervical biopsy is problematic, cervical conization treatment is needed as the next step.
