Leg swelling in kidney disease is a relatively common condition and does not mean that it is in an advanced stage. Causes of edema include decreased filtration function and decreased drainage function of the kidneys, causing water and sodium retention, which leads to edema. Kidney disease often causes hypoproteinemia, which decreases plasma colloid osmotic pressure, thus allowing water to reach the tissue interstices, which can cause edema.
When kidney disease is found, it is important to visit a regular hospital. Diuretic drugs can be applied to reduce edema, but we should be alert to hyperkalemia and prevent thrombosis, and the most fundamental thing to clear edema is to treat the original disease.
