The principle of steam eye masks is actually equivalent to localized heat application. Therefore, if there is a wheals in the eye, you can use a steam eye mask that can promote blood circulation around the eyelid and help the wheals to return to normal. However, you cannot rely on this method of treatment alone after the appearance of mydriasis in the eye, because this disease is caused by bacterial infection, so you must choose sensitive antibiotic drugs to control the local inflammation, such as levofloxacin hydrochloride eye drops, tobramycin eye drops, and erythromycin eye ointment, which are currently the most commonly used. After the conservative treatment mentioned above, mydriasis can usually return to normal gradually in about 1-2 weeks. In a small number of patients, as the disease progresses, a local abscess may form, manifesting as a hard nodule or lump under the eyelid skin. At this stage, conservative treatment with medication is usually not very effective and requires surgical incision to drain the abscess.
