How to recover from patellar dislocation

Patellar dislocation can be treated by the following methods: first, conservative treatment, after the acute patellar dislocation is repositioned by manipulation, it is fixed in the extension position with a plaster brace for 4-6 weeks, and the quadriceps muscle is exercised during the fixation period; second, surgical treatment, most patients still have anterior knee pain, patellar subluxation or dislocation symptoms after 4-6 months of strict conservative treatment, surgical treatment needs to be considered. Surgical treatment includes proximal luxation, distal luxation, medial support band reconstruction, patellar elevation, patellar resection, and patellofemoral joint replacement. The medial support band reconstruction is performed by taking an autologous tendon, such as the semitendinosus or part of the quadriceps tendon, to reconstruct the medial support band, while the lateral support band is loosened and tightened. If there is abnormal development of the femoral glide, reconstruction of the femoral glide is required.
