What position is used for an ultrasound of the groin?

Color ultrasound to check the groin is generally done by having the patient in the supine position. Ultrasound in the groin area mainly uses ultrasound technology to check the groin area. The patient is usually asked to take the supine position, and then the groin area is exposed, after which a chelating agent is applied on the ultrasound probe, and finally the groin area is probed. When there is pain in the groin area, and abnormalities such as swollen lymph nodes are palpated or lumps are touched, the ultrasound examination of the groin area can be performed to see if there are any lesions in the groin area as well as the size, texture, and extent of the lymph nodes, so as to make a preliminary judgment of the disease. Because the inguinal area is rich in lymph nodes, it is possible to check for enlarged lymph nodes and other abnormalities, as well as for hernias and varicocele in men.
