What are the medical criteria for determining menopause?

  Menopause generally refers to the permanent cessation of menstruation. A reasonable definition includes any of the following: 1. previous bilateral oophorectomy; 2. age ≥ 60 years; 3. age < 60 years, 12 months of menopause, no chemotherapy, no treatment to suppress ovarian function such as TAM, and FSH and estradiol in the postmenopausal range  4. Age < 60 years, taking TAM, etc., FSH and estradiol are within the postmenopausal range.  The taking of LH-RH agonists or inhibitors cannot be attributed to the menopausal status. For patients on premenopausal chemotherapy, menopause is not a reliable indication of menopause.
