How to classify moderate to mild hyperlipidemia

The degree of lipids is mainly based on the level of triglycerides as well as total plasma cholesterol. The normal range of triglycerides is 0.3~1.7mmol/L. If it is >1.7mmol/L and <3.4mmol/L, it is considered as mild hyperlipidemia, while >3.4mmol/L is considered as moderate hyperlipidemia. The normal range of total cholesterol is below 5.0mmol/L. If it is between 5.0mmol/L and 7.0mmol/L, it is considered as mild hyperlipidemia, while >7.0mmol/L is considered as moderate hyperlipidemia. If dyslipidemia is found, it should be treated under the guidance of a specialist. Generally, statin drugs, such as simvastatin and atorvastatin, are preferred to lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol; in addition, beta drugs, such as fenofibrate, can also be used. In daily life, we should try to eat a low-salt and low-fat diet, and do a moderate amount of physical exercise.
