Anatomic location of acute appendicitis

The anatomical location of the appendix is at the end of the cecum, where it is attached to the proximal end and closed at the distal end. In general, the appendix is about 0.5 cm in diameter and 3 cm in length, although there may be some individual variation. The reflex zone of acute appendicitis is usually located at the McKinsey point. The site of the McKenzie’s point is located in the outer 1/3 of the right anterior superior iliac spine and the navel. The typical clinical symptom is pressure pain at the McKay’s point, and if accompanied by peritonitis, rebound pain can occur, which is a localizing sign of appendicitis. This is a necessary condition for the diagnosis of appendicitis. Of course, the site may vary slightly due to individual differences.
