Who is at risk for tuberculosis?

  The following groups of people are prone to tuberculosis: 1, people living in poverty, malnutrition and other socioeconomic backwardness; 2, people living in crowded places with poor ventilation: densely populated urban areas (e.g. wholesale markets), school students, prison inmates; 3, infants and young children, late adolescents, especially college and university students, early adults, especially women of that age, and the elderly, which may be related to a special stage of immune function; 4, people suffering from certain diseases: e.g. diabetes, silicosis, post-organ transplantation, post-major gastrectomy, etc.; 5, patients receiving long-term immunosuppressive therapy such as hormones.
