What to do about postmenopausal ovarian cysts

Postmenopausal ovarian cysts need to be treated according to the size and nature of the ovarian cyst, as follows: 1. Regular checkups: If the ovarian cyst is less than 5 cm, with no uncomfortable symptoms and normal tumor markers, this condition can be examined by pelvic ultrasound once every six months. If the ovarian cyst does not increase significantly, surgery is not necessary. 2. Surgery: If the ovarian cyst is larger than 5 cm, accompanied by elevated tumor markers or pain in the lower abdomen, surgery is recommended, usually laparoscopic surgery. After menopause, removal of both ovaries can be considered, which usually does not affect the quality of life. The removed ovarian tissues should be sent for routine pathological examination to determine the nature of the tumor.
