Recurrence rate of bladder cancer after elective cystectomy

The recurrence rate after bladder cancer electrosurgery is relatively high. According to the latest urology guidelines, the recurrence rate after surgery is 63.24% when bladder tumor electrosurgery alone is performed without other treatment. If regular bladder perfusion chemotherapy is maintained for more than one year after bladder tumor surgery, the recurrence rate can be reduced to about 15%. If a second bladder tumor electrosurgery is performed after the first surgery, it can reduce the recurrence rate to about 25.68%. Therefore, the treatment of bladder cancer is a comprehensive treatment, except for the electrodesiccation surgery, it also needs regular maintenance of bladder perfusion chemotherapy, the course of chemotherapy is about 1-2 years, choose a long course of bladder perfusion chemotherapy, the time of chemotherapy should be chemotherapy every other week for 8 consecutive weeks, and chemotherapy every other month for 10 consecutive times in order to reduce the recurrence rate of bladder tumor and the probability of bladder tumor progression. For patients whose initial electrosurgery is not complete, a second bladder tumor electrosurgery should be considered 2-6 weeks after surgery to reduce the probability of bladder tumor recurrence.
