Why didn’t you get a new kidney after 14 years on dialysis?

Dialysis treatment is usually for patients with chronic renal failure. 14 years of dialysis without kidney transplantation may be related to the existence of contraindications to renal transplantation, unsuccessful kidney transplantation mating, and high cost of renal transplantation.
1. Contraindication to renal transplantation: If the patient has untreated malignant tumor, active tuberculosis, AIDS, drug addiction, recent myocardial infarction is still unstable, persistent coagulation dysfunction such as hemophilia, and life expectancy is estimated to be less than 2 years, then renal transplantation is usually not allowed.
2. Unsuccessful matching for kidney transplant: If the patient fails to get a matching donor that meets the requirements, he/she is not able to undergo kidney transplantation.
3. Higher cost of kidney transplantation: The cost of kidney transplantation includes the cost of donor preservation, transportation, patient’s surgery, anesthesia, medication for post-surgery recovery and hospitalization, which is usually higher and may limit some families to undergo kidney transplantation.
If patients have the need for kidney transplant surgery, they should go to regular hospitals in time and formulate follow-up treatment plans under the guidance of doctors.
