What is the prognosis for heart valve disease?

The prognosis for heart valve disease varies significantly depending on the type of disease, its severity and the timing of treatment.
Patients with mild or moderate valve disease usually have no obvious clinical signs or indications for intervention, but require regular outpatient follow-up to allow for early intervention if necessary.
Patients who have developed severe valvular disease usually have a good prognosis with aggressive treatment if intervention is timely and if irreversible damage to the structure and function of the heart has not yet occurred.
