What’s wrong with swollen feet at 27 weeks of pregnancy?

Edema in the feet at 27 weeks of pregnancy requires an analysis of the different conditions to determine how to deal with it. If edema is present in one foot, there is a possibility of poor blood return or thrombosis in one limb, which requires a venous ultrasound of the lower extremity to determine. If a thrombus does exist, vascular surgery is required for treatment. If edema is present in the feet bilaterally, it may be a normal part of pregnancy, that is, edema caused by elevated progesterone and estrogen. If this is ruled out, there is a possibility of hyperemesis gravidarum, when the patient may experience increased foam in the urine and elevated blood pressure, which mostly disappears after the end of the pregnancy. If the edema does not disappear after delivery, especially after 3-6 months, the patient may have a renal lesion, and if necessary, a puncture biopsy should be performed to clarify the pathology, guide the clinic and determine the prognosis.
