What to watch out for in a high uric acid diet

When uric acid is high, patients are recommended to eat low purine food as much as possible, as follows: 1. Patients are recommended to eat more vegetables, spinach contains high amount of ellagic acid, which has little effect on uric acid and can be consumed, and it is recommended to eat more than 500g of green vegetables daily; 2. High purine food includes animal offal, such as heart, liver, lung and kidney, and try to avoid eating them. Also try to eat less mutton and pork, and drink less broth, especially thick broth, which may contain more purines than meat, so patients need to be prohibited from eating it. Sea fish or oysters contain higher amount of purines, so it is recommended that gout patients avoid eating them as much as possible; 3. Patients should quit smoking and drinking alcohol, and drink more water containing alkaline, and they can drink soda water appropriately, but they need to avoid overdoing it so as not to affect patients’ gastric acid secretion; 5. Drinking more milk, dairy products and eggs during the acute period of gout can help control patients’ gout.
