8 recommendations for the general population
Ensure that body weight is maintained within normal limits and avoid weight gain and waist circumference increase throughout adulthood.
Engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity every day, increasing the duration and intensity of activity as the body’s ability to adapt increases, and avoiding undesirable habits such as sedentary television viewing.
Eating less high-energy foods, avoiding sugary drinks, and if eating fast food, making sure to eat as little as possible.
Eating at least five servings (at least 400 g) of different types of non-starchy vegetables and fruits per day, eating cereals or legumes at every meal, and limiting refined starchy foods.
consume less than 500 grams per week of red meat such as pork, beef, and lamb, and eat as few processed meat products as possible (including bacon, salted meats, ham, etc.)
If alcohol is consumed, no more than 2 servings per day for men (1 serving contains approximately 10 grams – 15 grams of ethanol) and no more than 1 serving for women (alcohol should be prohibited for children and pregnant women).
Ensure that salt intake is less than 6 grams per day and that moldy cereals or legumes are not eaten.
Dietary supplements such as vitamins are not recommended for cancer prevention, but should be taken in case of certain nutrient deficiency diseases or insufficient dietary intake.
At the same time, the experts made 2 special recommendations.
One is for young mothers to exclusively breastfeed their infants (without any supplementation or formula) for 6 months, and later breastfeed while adding supplements.
The second is that cancer patients should follow the above recommendations on diet, nutrition and exercise, whether they have recovered or are in the process of active treatment.
