  I. Concept: MECT is the abbreviation of multi-parameter monitored convulsion-free electroconvulsive therapy, which is a common method of physical therapy in psychiatry. The principle is to stimulate the cerebral cortex with an appropriate amount of pulsed current, which causes a series of physiological changes in brain cells to occur, thus achieving the purpose of treatment. Indications: Depression, especially severe depression or with suicidal, self-injurious behavior and refractory depression is the most preferred, but also for neurosis, schizophrenia, personality disorders, affective mental disorders. Third, treatment safety and contraindications It is generally believed that there are no absolute contraindications to MECT, and the safety is very high. Recent statistics show that the safety of each treatment reaches 99.99% and rarely causes organic damage to the patient’s brain. It is a very safe treatment method. However, this treatment is only feasible after patients with severe organ dysfunction have been effectively controlled. Patients with decompensated pulmonary dysfunction and obstructive lung disease may be considered as contraindications. Treatment should be performed after the doctor determines that the indications are met. 4. Treatment procedure when MECT is required 1. Diagnosed by the doctor to determine the indications 2. The cost of each session is 400 RMB (which includes treatment fee, anesthesia fee and material fee).
