Can I get prostate cancer easily if I have a lot of sex?

Too much sex is associated with prostatitis, but not necessarily with prostate cancer.

This is because:

  • The cause of prostate cancer has not been identified and may be related to genetics, environment, and sex hormones;
  • Prostate secretory function is regulated by the androgen testosterone, and luteinizing hormone of gonadotropins plays an indirect role;
  • Androgens play a role in regulating the development and growth of the prostate gland. Prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer do not occur in young castrated individuals, while those with higher levels of androgens in the body are at greater risk of prostate cancer.

So, generally speaking, high androgen levels and a higher sex drive do not directly correlate with the frequency of sex. Too much sex can engorge the prostate gland, which has been linked to prostatitis, but whether it can lead to prostate cancer is unknown.
