What to do if you are positive for anti-U1-NRNP antibodies

Positive anti-U1-NRNP antibody, if it is systemic lupus erythematosus, need to carry out blood sedimentation, urine routine, anti-ds-DNA antibody and other tests, and follow the doctor’s advice to use drugs such as merti-macrolide and other medications; if it is systemic sclerosis, need to carry out urinalysis, pathology, X-ray and other tests, and follow the doctor’s advice to use methylprednisolone and other medications. 1. Systemic lupus erythematosus: check whether the patient has mild arthritis, rash, cryptogenic nephritis, thrombocytopenic purpura and so on. Check blood routine, blood sedimentation, urine routine, anti-ds-DNA antibody, echocardiography, renal biopsy, skin pathology under the guidance of doctor. If the diagnosis is confirmed, glucocorticoid therapy such as methylprednisolone and prednisone should be applied according to the doctor’s instruction; or immunosuppressant therapy such as cyclophosphamide and mertiomacrophenol ester should be used; or high-dose intravenous infusion of immunoglobulin should be performed. 2. Systemic sclerosis: also called scleroderma. It can be determined whether the patient has symmetrical skin sclerosis of extremities, Raynaud’s phenomenon, muscle pain, joint swelling and pain, hematuria, fatigue and so on. Liver and kidney function tests, urinalysis, pathology tests, X-rays, etc. should be performed under the guidance of the doctor. If the diagnosis is confirmed, glucocorticoids such as methylprednisolone and prednisone should be used for treatment as prescribed by the doctor; immunosuppressants such as methotrexate should also be used for treatment as prescribed by the doctor; calcium antagonists such as nifedipine and amlodipine should be used for dilating blood vessels and so on. Positive anti-U1-NRNP antibody may also be caused by other reasons, it is recommended that the patient under the guidance of the rheumatologist for treatment.
